Namitha Kapoor is a popular Tamil actress. She started out by participating in the Femina Miss India Contest. She was born on May 10, 1981 in Surat, India. She has acted in Tamil, Kannada, Telugu, Hindi films. Although she started out in Telugu movies, she became famous after the Tamil film Engal Anna opposite Vijayakanth. She starred in the song “Arjuna Arjuna” along with Sarath Kumar, which ended up as a big hit.
Born and raised in Gujarat, Real name Namita Vankawala, studied at M.T.B. Arts College, Surat, Punjabi-speaking Namitha is another actress in the long list of heroines that made it in Telugu and Tamil movies. Her father is a businessman and her mother is a housewife. She became popular in the Tamil film Engal Anna with Vijayakanth. After being crowned Miss Surat in 1998 Miss India contest brought Namitha to the Telugu film industry. After entering Tollywood, she immediately grabbed the attention of Telugu film lovers with Sontham and acted in Gemini as Bhairavi though the films didn’t fare well in the box office. Namitha appeared in an English film named Maya directed by Eric Manning. She has also Tamil and Malayalam films to her Credit. She is Taurus, stands approximately six feet tall, and weighs about 70 kilos - and may well become Indian movie industry’s answer to Lucy Lawless
